The History of Solmaid Community School

Solmaid Community School Foundation (SCSF) is a charitable organization initiated in 2012 by a group of local Bangladeshis and teachers with the support of few experienced international expatriate teachers from the International School of Dhaka (ISD). The Foundation is incorporated as a “not for profit” private company with The Registrar of Joint Stock Companies under the Societies Registration Act XI of 1860 and started its official journey in January 2013.

The Curriculum

The Solmaid Community School (SCS) is providing free education (along with the books and other education materials, school uniform, foods, clothing, etc.) to the extreme poor, often referred to as ‘street children’ in and around Solmaid (Vatara) area of Dhaka city. The School is presently providing free education up to class VIII with an enrollment of 150-160 students per year.

Solmaind – A trusted Community.

The school is funded solely through donations from overseas and the local community. It is administered by the School committee in consultation with the SCSF Board.

Administration

The SCSF Board, composed of the key founding sponsors, school principal and teachers, administers the Solmaid Community School (SCS) with the support of a consultative panel of international teachers.
