This school is free to students who represent the poorest children in Dhaka. A recent survey conducted by a leading research & consulting firm of Bangladesh has identified, over 90% of the SCS students belong to a family of 4-6 members with an average household income of less than $2/day (eqv. Tk. 170/day), meaning about Tk. 28/person/day. Most of their earnings goes for house rent and food, with virtually no savings. All of those families are living in a rented semi-pucca house with tin/wood roof top, mostly in the slum areas with shared sanitary toilet and running supply water for all purposes including drinking water. Majority of the parents of the SCS students are day laborers, street vendors, rickshaw pullers, van drivers, housemaids, cleaners, etc.

Sponsorship from both local and international sources are sought in order to meet the annual running costs of about BDT 38,25,000 (eqv. USD 40,810). You may wish to consider your support to any of the following major cost items of the school:
Sponsor the School House Rent: Tk 60,000/month
Sponsor a Teacher: Tk 40,000/month, 6 persons
School Uniform: Tk 150,000 (annual)
School Bag: Tk 70,000 (annual)
School Shoes: Tk 80,000 (annual)
Students Food: Tk 60,000/month

All sponsorship funds are used to directly support the Solmaid Community School and not used to fund outside administrative costs.
